Used Car Pre-Purchase Inspection

Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI)
Pre-Purchase Inspections for European Vehicles in Mesa, AZ
If you’re considering buying a used European vehicle, a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) can help you better understand its condition before you make the purchase.
AZ Euros performs pre-purchase inspections on the European vehicles we specialize in, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, and Volkswagen. We inspect the vehicle’s mechanical condition, scan for diagnostic faults, test drive it, and look for visible signs of existing problems, previous repairs, and maintenance needs.
The goal is to give you useful information about the vehicle’s current condition and any concerns we find so you can make a more informed decision before buying it.
What Does a Pre-Purchase Inspection Include?
A PPI looks at the overall condition of the vehicle rather than diagnosing one specific problem. Depending on the vehicle, the inspection includes:
- Engine operation and performance
- Transmission operation
- Visible fluid leaks
- Fluid levels and condition
- Brake pads and rotors
- Tire tread, condition, and wear patterns
- Suspension and steering components
- Belts and hoses
- Battery and charging system
- Lights and basic electrical/accessory operation
- Undercarriage inspection on a lift
We also test drive the vehicle as part of the inspection.
Diagnostic Scan
As part of the PPI, we scan the vehicle for diagnostic faults, including stored faults that may be present even when a warning light isn’t currently on. We also check for warning lights and vehicle messages.
If something we find requires additional diagnosis or testing to determine the cause, we’ll note that in our findings.
Visual Body and Vehicle Condition
The PPI includes an overall visual assessment of the vehicle’s body condition. We look for visible signs of:
- Previous bodywork or repainting
- Damage
- Corrosion
- Previous repairs and the apparent quality of those repairs
- Other visible body or cosmetic concerns
We do not use a paint meter, so paint-thickness measurements are not part of the inspection. Our assessment is based on what can be visually observed.
What Isn’t Included in a Standard PPI?
A standard PPI does not include removing or disassembling components to inspect areas that aren’t otherwise accessible. If additional disassembly is needed, it would need to be discussed separately and approved by the vehicle’s current owner.
Compression and leak-down testing are also not included in a standard PPI. These may be performed as additional labor depending on the vehicle and with approval from the vehicle owner.
We do not perform PPIs on heavily modified vehicles or builds.
What Do You Receive After the Inspection?
We’ll document our findings and identify repairs or maintenance that appear to be needed, along with worn items that may need attention. You’ll receive a digital inspection report with our findings, photos, and technician recommendations.
A PPI can’t guarantee that a vehicle has no hidden problems or predict every future repair. It can give you a better understanding of the vehicle’s condition based on what we can inspect, test, and observe at the time of the inspection.
